Gateway LT2102H unboxing and first look!
Jan 11th
Wondering why it’s been so quiet the last couple of days? Too much drinking to help me cope with all the news out of CES?
No! I’ve been wringing my hands waiting for Futureshop to finally deliver my Gateway LT2101H – the one I discovered on their site more than a week ago. Do to a backorder and inattentive CSR, I ended up having to wait four extra days – but it’s here now!

Pineview powered Gateway LT2102H now available in Canada for $299
Jan 1st
Pine View isn’t supposed to show up in retail stores for a few days yet, but up here in Canada we might have just gotten early access.
While snooping around over at Futureshop.ca, I stumbled across a listing for a Gateway model sporting an Intel Atom N450 – strange, I thought, since just yesterday there were only N270 models in the sub-$300 price range.
The Gateway LT2102H seems to be the rebranded cousin of Acer’s 532H [Engadget post], sporting:
- Intel Atom N450 (Pine View) at 1.66GHz
- 1GB DDR2 memory
- 160GB SATA HDD
- 10.1″ LED display at 1024×600
- 802.11 b/g/n wireless
- Multi-format card reader
- 3 USB 2.0 ports
- Integrated webcam
- Multi-gesture touchpad
- 3 cell 2200mAh battery
- Windows 7 Starer
For $299 CDN, the price surprised me. The Acer 532 is expected to retail at $299 US and there’s usually a bit more markup in Canada than US to CDN exchange (likely due to differences in import costs). The only real drawback on this model is the battery, though with Pine View’s miserly battery usage the LT2102H should still muster about 4 hours.
You won’t find the model on Gateway’s product page just yet, so whether or not there’s actually an LT2102H in transit to me on Monday remains to be seen. If it shows up, expect to see an unboxing post here – and I’ll be benchmarking it as well, of course.
Stay tuned!
