Steam’s holiday sale ends today at noon!
Jan 4th

If you’ve been waffling about purchasing some items from Steam’s holiday sale, it’s time to get off your ass and pull the trigger!
Today at noon, the big sales finally comes to an end. Sure, there’ll be another round of special offers to take its place, but there are loads of great titles available at bargain-basement prices right now.
Favorites like World of Goo ($4.99), Audiosurf ($2.49), Evil Genius ($1.99), and the Freedom Force Freedom Pack ($5.01) are great additions to any gamer’s collection and they won’t break the bank.
You probably won’t want to buy the titles in the screenshot for play on your netbook – I just wanted to make sure the timer was in my image…
Get 80 classic Atari games for $5 from Steam!
Jan 3rd
Classic games stand the test of time – and perhaps no one has more truly classic games in their vaults than the chaps from Atari. Right now, Steam is running a special on the Atari Classics pack. Normally only $14.99, you can pick the pack up right now for a measly $5.09.
Yes, you can find emulated versions and fan remakes of these games all over the place, but it’s hard to argue against paying when the price is so low.
What’s included? Arcade hits like Asteroids, Battle Zone, Centipede, Crystal Castles, Super Breakout, Tempest…and a whole lot more. It’s one heck of a deal.

Those of you scouring the net for gift ideas know that time is running out. If you’re looking for something useful that a netbook owner will appreciate – especially gamers – have a look at the five options I’ve dug up over at Amazon.com. You’ll still be able to get the shipped to you in time for the holidays, and they’re not going break the bank at less than $30 each!
Thermaltake I-xoft Cooling Pad – $27
I love these things. They contain no moving parts, and they’re sexy as all get-out. The iXoft weighs very little and is extremely portable, silent, and does a good job keeping temperatures under control on your laptop or netbook. That’s important when you’re pushing your CPU and GPU while gaming.
Lenovo S12 Ion version now available for around $500
Dec 9th
I’ve been pestering Brad over at Liliputing for a while in an attempt to figure out which Ion-powered netbook I should purchase. Ultimately I decided to go with HP Mini 311 for several reasons, passing on alternatives like the Lenovo S12.
One reason I didn’t choose the S12 was its price tag: “the Ion version is too expensive,” Brad said. Well, it just got less expensive.
Lenovo is once again offering a 15% discount code on their web store, bringing the already-reduced S12 down to a bargain basement price of $509.15. That’s almost $140 off the regular price. They also offer six months same as cash on purchases of $750 or more, so heck, why not pick up two for your holiday gifting needs and pay for ‘em later?
One catch – if you want it in time for Christmas, you’ll have to buy the white one. Black shows a delivery time of more than four weeks.
I think at $105 more than what I paid for my HP 311, the S12 is probably still a tad pricey, but it is a solid netbook.
